Fall Youth Guitar Class 2026

Group Guitar is for brand-new guitarists who want to learn the fun way: together. Students learn how to hold the guitar, their first chords, strumming patterns, and rhythm, and start playing real songs right away. We work as a team, learning parts and playing together, and build up to performing as a group. Along the way kids pick up chord changes, ear training, and the basics of reading music, so they're building real guitar skills. Don't have a guitar yet? No problem. We'll help you find an affordable, properly sized rental before the first class.

New to HeartStrings? No musical experience needed; this class is built for total beginners. Drop into a class free and see the fun for yourself.

Beginner Group Guitar Ages 8-12

Sept. 17 - Dec. 10

No experience needed, this class starts at the very beginning. Students learn how to hold the guitar, pick and strum the strings, and play their first chords in the first few weeks. From there we build steadily: new chords, strumming patterns, counting and rhythm skills, and the basics of reading music, all through games, familiar songs, and lots of hands-on playing time.

The best part of learning guitar in a group is that guitar is a group instrument. Students spend most of every class with guitars in hand, playing together as a class, taking turns on different parts, and learning to listen to each other and keep a steady beat as a team.

By the end of the term, the class will have a whole set of songs they can play together, and they'll perform it at the recital as a guitar band, with family and friends cheering them on.
